Breathing away!!

The whole world is now talking about breath work. Breathing that is not optimal for health can lead to various physical and psychological issues. It can manifest in several ways, and recognizing the signs is crucial for addressing potential health problems. We do not exert as much as we used to in olden times. Our body is our temple, and breathing correctly will amplify the quality of life. They didn’t teach us in schools, and now here we are learning to breathe properly at this stage of life; it is still not too late.

The Deeper, the better!!

Signs of dysfunctional breathing:

1. Physical Symptoms

  • Nasal Congestion – it could be due to allergies in the house and other factors
  • Rapid Breathing
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Shallow Breathing
  • Rapid Breathing
  • Itchy Throat

2. Psychological Symptoms

  • Low concentration span
  • Not willing to groom and self-care
  • Repeated overthinking
  • Thinking about the future
  • Low oxygen supply to the brain and other organs

3. Postural Issues

  • Laziness to workout due to lack of oxygen supply – slouched -cannot even go for walks
  • Tension in the neck and shoulders

4. Sleep-Related Issues

  • Sleep Apnea
  • Snoring

5. Exercise Intolerance

  • Decreased exercise performance
  • Laziness to even think of it
** If you or someone you know who is breathing heavily around you then show to a doctor, they can asses you breathing patterns and provide guidance to improve breath function, such as diaphragmatic breathing, breathing exercises and other therapeutic interventions.

Please take care of yourself. Life is about living to the optimum levels. Your breath is your life. Learn from a teacher or just watch YouTube to start with, and then show it to a health professional if you feel you are breathing heavily.

It’s no surprise that breathing is foundational and fundamental to all aspects of our health and well-being. Since we breathe between 20 – 22 thousand times a day, how we breathe can have significant and life-changing consequences for our health.
